Can I get away with this as a personal item?

I am currently solo travelling for 2 months. I am only 2 weeks in and I have bought too much already and I’m struggling to fit it all in my case. I haven’t been using a personal item just my North Face backpack with the following dimensions: 27,9 cm x 21 cm x 46,1 cm If I was to buy a small suitcase could I get away with that and my North Face backpack as my carry on and personal item?
