It was my job to put the fish eggs in the water with the fish.
We were raising a special breed - a hybrid between shad and cod, called shoad. I kept asking the boss if it was OK to start putting in the fish eggs yet.
"Not yet, gotta do some more tests." He'd check the PH of the water, and I'd ask "Now is it time to start?"
"Not yet - gotta check the fish eggs."
"Now? Time to start?"
"Yes! Finally! It's time to get the roe on the shoad!"
