I am an international student who lives in Japan. My main nationality is Canada, but I also possess an Italian passport. I want to travel to China on my Italian passport because Italian citizens have visa-free access to China as tourists, which Canadian passports don’t have. The problem is, my Japanese student visa is in my Canadian passport, meaning I will have to travel out of Japan with (and receive immigration stamps in) my Canadian passport.
I can’t just show up in China and use my Italian passport (right?) because my Canadian passport will have all the immigration stamps in it. I’ve heard some horror stories of people accidentally showing different passports at different airports and almost being arrested/deported. Do you have any advice for me in this situation, or will I have to pay for a visa in my Canadian passport? I’m sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but I am inexperienced in this endeavour.
