Hello!
Two first time Peru travellers from Canada looking for any advice/thoughts on our 16 day trip.
We are both very active (24F and 28F) and relatively fit. Looking to do lots of hiking, outdoor adventures/etc. Any recommendations are welcome!!
Day 1 - Arrive in Lima (late at night)
Day 2 - Fly Lima to Arequipa (early), explore Arequipa
Day 3 - Arequipa to Cabanaconde, overnight Cabanaconde
Day 4 - Colca Canyon hiking
Day 5 - Colca Canyon hiking
Day 6 - Fly Arequipa to Cusco (early), explore Cusco
Day 7 - Explore Cusco
Day 8 - Cusco, leave on Salkantay trek midday
Day 9-13 - Salkantay Trek with Alpaca Expeditions
Day 14 - Fly to Lima (early), explore Lima
Day 15 - Lima
Day 16 - Huacachina - dune buggies/sandboarding; stay overnight in Huacachina
Day 17 - Early bus to Lima, spend rest of day exploring Lima
Day 18 - Fly home (early)
Other thoughts?
- We are very torn right now between hiking Colca Canyon or hiking near Huaraz (i.e. 2 day trips such as Laguna 69 or a multi day hike from Huaraz). Have heard mixed reviews on Colca Canyon - would anyone recommend one over the other? We would then fly from Lima --> Huaraz in place of Arequipa, then go to Cusco from Huaraz
- If we are only in Huacachina one day, should we try Pisco tasting? Or Paracas? Or is sandsurfing/buggies enough for the day?
- Are we spending too much time in Arequipa?
- Any must sees in Lima/Cusco?
