Custodial account for child

Looking to set up a custodial account for my 8 yr old son. He's had a 529 in his name since he was a yr old and we contribute a little each month so he's good on that regard. I would invest into SWPPX to keep it simple.

I have a Schwab account, can I simply link my account to his? Or does he need a new account? And you can purchase mutual funds in Schwab correct? I've only done stocks.
