Booking.com Insights: How Indian Travelers Plan Their Holidays in 2024

Different travelers have different strategies when it comes to planning holidays. For some Indian explorers, snagging the perfect flight deal is priority number one, while others prefer the security of booking accommodation before hashing out the rest of their travel plans.

Booking.com insights into Indian travel trends for 2024 offer fascinating glimpses into how travelers approach trip planning. A majority (61%) are quick to book flights, with a significant portion (37%) also snapping up event tickets well in advance. However, other essentials like car rentals, dining reservations, and even taxis are typically sorted alongside accommodation bookings or left until closer to departure.

Flight First: A significant majority (61%) of Indian travelers prioritize flight bookings over accommodation when planning their getaways.

One-Stop Booking: About a quarter of Indian travelers opt for the convenience of bundling various aspects of their trips together. They seek platforms that offer seamless booking for flights, accommodation, attractions, car rentals, dining, and transportation all in one go.

Culinary Considerations: When choosing accommodation, Indian travelers place importance on culinary offerings. 40% are willing to shell out extra for a sumptuous breakfast spread, while 54% seek out unique food experiences such as food tours and cooking classes.

Spontaneity on the Ground: A notable portion (13% to 33%) of Indian travelers wait until just before their trips to arrange car rentals, dining reservations, and taxis. They value flexibility and spontaneity, relishing the chance to uncover local gems and surprises once they’ve arrived at their destination.

Railway Readiness: More than half (58%) of Indian travelers secure train tickets before booking accommodation, ensuring a smooth journey without the hassle of last-minute seat hunting.

Early Event Planning: Like flights, 37% of travelers prioritize booking event tickets ahead of accommodation. Whether it’s a concert or a sports game, securing tickets early ensures these experiences are a highlight of the trip.
