Network Expansion
Avelo took flight in April 2021, initially connecting 11 destinations along the West Coast. Fast forward to today, and Avelo’s network has blossomed to encompass 52 destinations across 23 states and Puerto Rico. This rapid growth in destinations is paralleled by a surge in routes, escalating from 10 to 77 over the span of three years.
Looking ahead, Avelo is set to unveil 17 fresh routes within the next two months, introducing 10 new destinations to its map: Albany, NY (ALB); Atlanta, GA (ATL); Charlotte/Concord, NC (USA); Destin/Fort Walton Beach, FL (VPS); Houston, TX (HOU); Knoxville, TN (TYS); Orlando/Lakeland, FL (LAL); Miami, FL (MIA); St. Louis, MO (STL); and Traverse City, MI (TVC).
This Wednesday marks the inauguration of Avelo’s sixth aircraft base at Sonoma County Airport (STS) in the Bay Area, a destination Avelo has served since its inception. Initially, two aircraft will be stationed at STS, with approximately 50 Crewmembers onboard. STS joins Avelo’s existing bases at Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR), Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN), Orlando International Airport (MCO), Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU), and Wilmington Airport (ILG) in Philadelphia.
Operational Excellence
Entering its fourth year, Avelo is setting itself apart with top-tier reliability. In 2023, the airline boasted the lowest flight cancellation rate (0.2%) in the U.S. and ranked #2 in on-time performance, with 82.8% of flights arriving within 15 minutes of their scheduled time—DOT’s A14 standard for on-time performance reporting. In the first quarter of 2024, Avelo maintained its excellence with the second-lowest cancellation rate (0.4%) and a #2 ranking in on-time performance (81.2%).
These accolades are verified by Anuvu’s independent data platform, recognized by The Wall Street Journal for its annual airline rankings (excluding Avelo and others below the publication’s size threshold).
