Civil War Box Office Breaks A24 Opening Weekend Record

Civil War has broken a record for A24. The new movie from Ex Machina and Annihilation writer-director Alex Garland follows journalists attempting to capture the burgeoning civil war that occurs in the United States when Western forces led by California and Texas attempt to secede from the union in the near future. The movie, which features an ensemble cast that includes Kirsten Dunst, Wagner Moura, Cailee Spaeny, and Nick Offerman, is the most expensive title ever released by the independent production company A24, as it has a budget of $50 million.
