Alien (1979) is undoubtedly one of the most iconic horror movies of all time, but it also highlights the biggest waste of Ridley Scott's career. The entire Alien franchise is packed full of chilling moments, and to this day, Alien's on-screen deaths are some of the best-known scenes in horror history. Scott clearly has an inherent understanding of what makes a successful horror movie. He achieved all of this in only his second feature film, and it immediately propelled him to mainstream success while also redefining the genre.
