We have been battling ticks when we walk our dogs. We end up with 20 or more on one walk, and most of them end up on me, in the middle of the night. I can’t sleep because of it. We have also pulled several embedded ones off of them. I’ve given them the oral flea and tick meds before but I’m not a huge fan of putting tick killer in their bodies. Earlier this season I used Frontline and a week later my girl dog had a seizure. She hasn’t had one since. The emergency vet didn’t think it was related, especially a week afterwards, and there are other extenuating circumstances that could have caused a seizure.
I bought the Seresto flea and tick collars and now I’m afraid to use them. They were under fire for causing pet deaths and seizures and were almost pulled from the shelves a couple of years ago. Apparently they quit selling them in Canada. Anyone had any issues with them? We have a vet appt coming up but I wanted to see if anyone has had a problem or has any input. They are small dogs, chihuahuas, but bigger than your average Chi, 14 lbs.
