Hi everyone, I am planning a trip to northern/northeastern Italy this summer. Hoping to get some feedback on my itinerary. Coming from the US and used to traveling at a faster pace (although please be honest if we need to cut out a city or Lake Maggiore). Things we enjoy: Italian food, food tours, nice landscapes & gardens, history tours & museums (eg loved Naples archeology museum and Pompei), less cathedrals (max 2), less art museums (max of 2 for maybe 2 hours each)
Day 1: arrive in Milan at 10am. Immediately take train to Florence so it's not a wasted day sleeping all day in Milan.
Days 2-3: explore Florence. On day 3 afternoon, take train to Pisa, spend a couple hours there, and then take train to Cinque Terra.
Day 4: Cinque Terra
Day 5-6: morning train to Turin, explore Turin
Day 7: rent car in the morning and drive to Lake Maggiore (hopefully the less tourist-overrun version of Como?)
Day 8: drive back to Milan and return car in the morning. Explore Milan.
Day 9: fly out of Milan in the morning
Thanks in advance!
