What should I do?

So I’m getting my first ever kitten soon!! I’m so excited I have everything ready to buy on Amazon, toys, food, cat tree, litter box, bed etc.. and all the stuff u need for a kitten. My room is in my finish basement which is extremely large and can hold a cat. But I have 2 fish tanks down here and my bearded dragon? I’m worried that the kitten might go after the wires on the fish tank or try to get into my berdies cage. He has a 120 gallon tank but it has a lid instead of glass doors like some others. And I’m mostly worried about the wires with the fish tank. I was thinking about gating it off but it’s a cat not a dog . Any tips would be appreciated. Again I will probably be keeping the kitten in my basement since it a the size of a small apartment and I have a dog upstairs who is aggressive towards other animals since we recently adopted him from an abusive family so I don’t want to risk the kitten getting hurt by letting them go upstairs and roam the whole house.
